Maryam Hooleh
translated by Hayde Daragahi
absolute nothingness
what infinity!
it's like when I close my
eyelids!
you, who never fell down
from the moon,
and the sky never found
you,
however could you be
smashed under my feet
to inform me of a fire
behind the sky?
we were naïve
and not even our shadow
could not see us.
and infinity,
which was absolute
nothingness,
had scared us.
they'd written a thousand
tales about you
and I know your story by
heart!
no one had ever seen you
let alone you having said
anything!
you were my anxiety,
and had it now been for
you
I wouldn't have died so
well.
God flows in me,
And then I fall apart!
I accept you,
Even though my
acceptance, along with me myself,
Is food for the worms,
And my soul is life,
And my soul is mortal,
Save me if you can!
If you were all the light
there is,
Then light would play
crazy in the sun,
And rest itself on earth.
From the day you become
my existence
You laughed at my
destruction.
I did not believe you
Until happening was
struck by law!
I'm not stupid,
And I know your story by
heart
You've heard my voice
But, in truth,
I have never called you!
My god is man
Who conquers his own
infinity!
And o' happening
Continue to be law-bound!
God is the very same
Who lay down on a young
bed of thorns.
And time set out in his
stead
Like a dream.
The thorns sank deep in
his skin
And reached the bone!
He'd encircled them so
thoroughly
That they had no way of
seeing him.
When the long spikes of
thorn
Pass through his body
And manage at last to see
him
They'll realize
That they've killed him
with their history.
You!
With so many thorns,
So many people,
however can you still go
on breathing?
